Today we have a new digital tool in the spotlight. It is Artifact, a personalized and social news app, created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, co-founders of Instagram.
This news service is based on artificial intelligence with a very clear objective: to personalize the user experience. The application has socialization elements that allow you to comment on the news with your network of contacts.
Although it is not yet available, a waiting list has been created for those interested in the app to sign up. The tool aims to offer a selection of news items tailored to the user’s interests and preferences. Thanks to artificial intelligence, it is refined over time with automated learning.

Artifact’s news will come from large brands and news corporations, as well as smaller, specialized media
As we have been seeing in recent times, the predictive power of algorithms will define the future of social networks. The clear and current example of this is TikTok.
Other functionalities that we can highlight in this new app are the control of comments, a specific wall with the articles highlighted by the users that the user follows and a mailbox for sending direct messages to the network of contacts.
Some people already point out that Artifact is comparable to what Google Reader (closed in 2013) or Flipboard proposed in its day. It is also pointed out that users already share news on platforms not specifically designed for this purpose, such as Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram itself. On the other hand, it seems that the element of commenting and discussing news with the network of contacts is comparable to the experience offered by Twitter. All of this makes for uncertainty overlapping the launch. We will follow it closely.
